US Layoffs — April 2016

The US labor market showed signs of rising strain as employers recorded 290 WARN Act notices in April 2016, covering approximately 30,723 workers — marking a sharp increase from March and down 20% versus April 2015. Filings came from 38 states and territories, with an average of 106 workers per notice.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act requires employers with 100+ employees to provide 60-day advance notice of mass layoffs and plant closings.
