US Layoffs — January 2001

The US labor market showed signs of rising strain as employers submitted 166 WARN Act notices in January 2001, putting at risk an estimated 27,153 workers — up substantially from December and up 161% versus January 2000. Filings came from 11 states and territories, with an average of 164 workers per notice.
