US Layoffs — July 2001

The US labor market showed signs of rising strain as employers submitted 126 WARN Act notices in July 2001, putting at risk an estimated 23,290 workers — up substantially from June and up 228% versus July 2000. Filings came from 11 states and territories, with an average of 185 workers per notice.
