US Layoffs — August 2012

The US labor market showed continued flux as employers recorded 207 WARN Act notices in August 2012, covering approximately 17,821 workers — marking a decline from July and roughly flat versus August 2011. Filings came from 28 states and territories, with an average of 86 workers per notice.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act requires employers with 100+ employees to provide 60-day advance notice of mass layoffs and plant closings.
